For you digital enthusiasts out there, the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro Max and the rest of the range are all here. The leader of smartphones has announced in its official website the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are “built for Apple Intelligence, the easy-to-use personal intelligence system that understands personal context to deliver intelligence that is helpful and relevant while protecting user privacy.”
Why do iPhone users go bonkers every time a new release happens? As per a recent CNET USA survey of Apple phone users, here are the top reasons why they remain brand-loyal to their phones –
- Longer battery life
- More storage
- Camera features
- Phone display/Screen size
- Keeping in sync with the ecosystem (iOS mobile operating system as it was in their previous phone)
- Regular New Product Release with Enhanced Features
- AI integrations like advanced tools for editing photos, creating images, graphics etc.)
- Cool phone colours
A very small percentage (less than 10%, in fact) in the conducted survey opted to switch from iOS to Android, reinforcing the legendary reverence of Apple fans to iPhones.
Now, here are the top 4 reasons why most iPhone users are set to update to the newest iPhone 16/ iPhone Pro Max that was officially launched on Friday, 20 September 2024 (and bring new ones into the club as well!) –
- Improved battery life – For those who travel a lot on work or tend to stay away in the great outdoors, great battery life of the phone is a no-brainer. You may have to work while on a bus or train, or when you are stranded in an airport lounge. Staying connected in the need of the hour. External battery chargers and power banks can be life savers, but you need to remember to carry them along too! You may also need to FaceTime with friends and family a lot and you don’t wish to run out of juice on an important conversation. As per Apple, the battery will enable up to 33 hours of video playback, up to 29 hours of streamed video playback and up to 105 hours of audio playback. Apple also said the newest version of the Pro Max has 25-watt Mag Safe fast-charging capabilities, allowing you to wirelessly charge the phone to 50% in around 30 minutes. It does sound promising enough to check out the specs yourself.
Bigger screen with better durability – The iPhone 15 Pro Max currently has a 6.7-inch screen while the new iPhone 16 Pro Max has both a slightly larger 6.9-inch screen and thinner bezels (the angled borders on the front of your phone that aren’t a part of the screen itself). Thinner bezels will make the screen feel even larger as I watch movies, take video calls and read books. Also, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s case is made with a ceramic shield. As per Apple, the material is “grade-five titanium,” which indicates the material will result in less scratching. Extra protection is sure welcome anytime!
Apple Intelligence plus visual intelligence features – Apple Intelligence features come with all the iPhone16 variants. Just to be clear, iPhone 15 variants will also have Apple Intelligence but what you get extra here are a clutch of visual intelligence features. Here, AI is used to identify stuff around you. This should be quite helpful to those travelling to foreign countries and quickly identifying things they are not familiar with. However, there might be language barriers initially as Apple said the visual intelligence feature will only work in English through the end of this year, and will expand to other languages only in 2025. The phone also has an upgraded Siri version other than the enhance writing and editing tools provided by Apple Intelligence.
New Camera Control button – The new iPhone 16 Pro Max’s main camera is 48 megapixels and can shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second (which is new for the iPhone). What has tech geeks really excited is the new camera control button that will make the selfie game so much simpler. As per CNET, “the camera control button looks similar to a side fingerprint reader, and is a little indented. Pressing the button will open the camera app, and additional presses or glides of your finger will let you toggle between various settings. This seems handy for perfecting the shot while your arm is still outstretched without having to reset multiple times, which is travel selfie gold.”
Two young social media stars in the city. Mira Roy is super-excited about the official launch of the iPhone 16 models. “I am in awe of how Apple keeps upping its game and delighting users. Of course, I am so keen to get the latest upgraded model with its cool features. I quite liked the Teal but Ultramarine Blue is what it will be for me as blue is my favorite color!” she tells us.
Adina Adhikari, a young Kolkata influencer, is a confirmed iPhone user. “I have been using an iPhone for several years and it never disappoints. I am thrilled with the new camera upgrade with enhanced features. I loved the new Camera Control button that will make my work a delight,” says Adina.
