Sushmita Roy, a 29 year old Kolkata-based influencer and model, is making waves in the fashion world with her charm and elegance. Aspiring to represent India at the 73rd Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Mexico, she is on a journey to achieve global recognition.
She was born in the year 1994, the very year in which Sushmita Sen had won the crown for Miss Universe.

She was only ten years old when she first dreamt of becoming a beauty pageant queen.
In 2013, Sushmita had attended an award show as an audience member, and there she first met the former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. Following this incident, her parents supported her and she went through training and at the age of eighteen she did her first pageantry.
After attempting to become Miss India nine times without success, she pivoted her career towards becoming an influencer and model, a move that opened new doors for her. Since then, she has worked with reputed brands, starring in TV commercials and brand campaigns.
In 2019, at the age of 24, she knew she was nearing the age limit for pageants, which capped participation at 25.
“That year felt like my final opportunity, knowing I’d never be eligible again.”
However, starting this year, Miss Universe has redefined its criteria, lifting restrictions on age, height, and even the requirement of being single, opening new doors for many aspirants like her.
“With the age limit removed, I recognized that this was my moment to pursue the dream I had always cherished. I pictured myself triumphing, achieving not only a national honor but also a personal accomplishment.”
Currently, among 51 participants, Sushmita stands as one of the hopeful contenders, staying focused and positive. As the main event approaches, set to take place on September 22 in Jaipur, she remains determined to turn her long-held dream into reality.
